My heart is full and my soul content. The last month God poured His love over our little family and our humble church through the body of Christ.
At the beginning of July we welcomed visitors from Texas, Chicago, and Canada, all united to serve the people of Danlí on Hillside Community Church’s yearly mission trip. The week was a huge success and a huge blessing to both the missionaries and Hondurans a like. Here are some highlights from the trip.
Connecting Sponsor Families
Personally, my favorite part of the trip each year is connecting the sponsors from the US to the children they have faithfully supported and their families. It is a moment met with much anticipation and excitement, but it is one that neither will soon forget. The children are meeting someone who loves them, believes in them, and has invested into their future, and for children who have only been surrounded by poverty and brokenness their entire lives, this is a really big deal.
For the second year, Llamado Eterno and Hillside worked together to host a medical brigade at the church. With 10 doctors, 3 dentists, and a large team of Gringo and Honduran volunteers, we were able to attend to 620 children and adults who came in need of medical and dental attention.
The mission team visited three impoverished communities of Danlí: La Urrutia, Los Robles, and El Chacon. In each community, the team visited the homes, spent time praying for the families, and shared dramas and games with the children.
Construction Project: A Place to Play
Lighthouse Community Church of Iowa and Hillside Community Church of Texas have never met each other, but worked together to bless the children of Llamado Eterno with a beautiful covered park. The kids absolutely went nuts the first (and second and third…) time they got to play on the slides, swings, and even a little rock wall! This is such a huge gift to the children at the church. I cannot express enough how grateful we all are.
Two Churches Acting Like One
Hillside has been such an important part of Llamado Eterno’s story and visa versa. This year, we acted as one church as we celebrated baptisms together, worshipped together, prayed together, and went out into the city to evangelize together- A true representation of what the body of Christ should look like!
And of course we just love our family and friends
This trip was extra special for me as my little Lucia got to spend time with so many of our most precious loved ones. She was happy to be passed around from one loving set of arms to another. I am especially thankful that my in-laws were able to visit and get some grandma and grandpa time in with their little girl and that three of my very good friends stayed a little longer after the mission team went home to visit and help with school and ministry. It was so fun to have a house full of girls!!
Our baby is turning six months next week and growing so fast! She is rolling all over the place and getting stronger everyday. It definitely won’t be long until she is crawling… Yikes!!! We are all thankful she is now sleeping through the night in her crib and giving mommy and daddy a little extra rest. Praise God she is healthy, happy, and just perfect!
